Yes, carnival.....accepted the “tradition” party in-office has a business arrangement with the Carnival Company, but does the political party have a Business Licence? Has it a VAT Tin number?
May I propose in future this needs to be discontinued and simply the carnival would donate whatever they would normally share with the political party to a local recognised NGO who serves the poor. The licenses, exemptions are of the State why should they be giving such to a political party?
If the answer to these questions is ‘No’ then legally Finance should not have given, nor did have the authority to give. a comfort letter of Duty casual importation exemption of the carnival, or any other tax exemptions.
Are the principle political parties not registered, might be presuming much, Not For Profit Entities?
Showing a letter from Finance to the previous Government party means zilch.... if that party was registered as a ‘Not for profit’.
