TYLER Pinder continues to deliver standout performances during his senior season and notched another career milestone.
Pinder surpassed 200 three pointers made in his high school career and also won the Tulsa World’s Player of the Week award as he led his Broken Arrow Tigers to a 3-0 record.
The 6’2” sharpshooting guard is in his first season with the Class 6A programme in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
He began the week with 22 points, four rebounds and three assists in an 86-51 win over Bartlesville.
He followed with 18 points and 10 assists in an 80-58 win over No. 9 ranked Bixby and concluded the week with 14 points in a 61-50 victory over No. 10 Jenks to bring an end to a seven-game winning streak. “Scored 54 points to help the Tigers sweep three games, including two against higher-ranked teams, both in Class 6A’s top 10,” the publication said. “Helped the Tigers, who entered last week ranked No. 15, post an 8-2 record in January.”
He continues to pay immediate dividends for his new programme after he transferred from Redemption Life Tabernacle Christian Prep in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In December, Pinder scored a season high 34 points in an 81-55 win for the Tigers over Cassidy at the 13th annual Edmond Open basketball tournament in Edmond, Oklahoma. He made eight three pointers and also added seven assists and two steals.
His 2019-20 season was highlighted by being named one of the top performers at the Stars and Stripes High School Basketball Showcase in Houston, Texas.
Pinder finished with 46 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and three steals for Redemption Life Tabernacle Christian Prep in their 101-60 win over JL Academy.
At the national team level, Pinder was a member of Team Bahamas as they won the bronze medal at last summer’s FIBA Centrobasket Under-17 Championship for Men in Puerto Rico. He averaged 11.2 points per game and was the tournament’s top three-point shooter at 48.3 percent from beyond the arc.
