CHARLES Bain celebrated senior night with his most productive performance in back-to-back games for the Robert Morris University Colonials.

Bain scored a season high 12 points in both games over the weekend as the Colonials split a pair with the Oakland Golden Grizzlies at the UMPC Events Center in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.

Bain was one of six Colonials who scored in double figures in Friday’s 88-82 double overtime victory, which ended an eight-game losing streak.

Among Bain’s 12 points was a pair of pivotal three-point field goals that kept the Colonials in contention to force overtime.

Trailing by eight, Bain’s three trimmed RMU’s deficit to 71-66 with 3:31 to go in regulation and moments later another three tied the game (75-75) with 2:42 remaining in the first overtime period. “Even though we can’t be together to celebrate the Class of 2021, let’s drop some props.”

RMU Head Coach Andrew Toole said: “Unbelievable effort by our guys to keep fighting, keep fighting, keep fighting. Making plays and the stops we needed down the stretch. Just really proud of the guys on how they fought and how they stayed together.”

Bain, RMU’s active leading scorer and rebounder, was one of two seniors celebrated the following night in an 86-81 loss to the Golden Grizzlies. He finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

“Senior Night is always hard. It’s emotional,” Toole said. “To have a guy like Charles, who is in the rotation, off-and-on again starter and has made some big shots. [The seniors] mean a lot to this programme and will continue to mean a lot to this programme as we move forward.”

The Grand Bahama native’s family introduced him as part of the starting lineup on the video board.

“We knew that the Bain family would come through with high-level intros, and it brought a smile to those guys’ face,” Toole said, “Not exactly the way we would want to have it done, but it was the best we could with the circumstances.”

The Colonials are 4-12 on the season, 3-10 in the Horizon League. Bain is averaging 5.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

They will conclude their regular season with a pair of games on the road at the Detroit Mercy Titans, February 19 and 20.
