A teenager who denied assaulting another with a deadly instrument was granted bail ahead of his trial.
The 17-year-old appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney after he was accused of assaulting another youngster with a knife on August 17.
He pleaded not guilty and his matter was adjourned to September 20 for a fixture hearing in the juvenile court.
In the interim, the teen was granted $1,500 bail.
Meanwhile, in a separate matter Patrick Carey, 27, was arrested after police said he assaulted Quentin Henchell with a handgun on May 16.
He also denied the allegation during his arraignment before Magistrate McKinney and his case was adjourned to November 8 for trial.
Carey was granted $5,000 bail until that time.
In another case, a man who denied stealing cell phones from two people, was also released on bail until his trial.
Police arrested Shaquille Gray after he was accused of stealing a $33 Alcatel phone from a woman on August 15. He was further accused of taking a man’s $150 cell phone without permission on the same day.
He pleaded not guilty to two counts of stealing during his arraignment before Magistrate Algernon Allen and his case was adjourned to September 30 for trial.
Gray was released on $3,000 bail in the meantime.
