Dear Bahamas Government:
We are begging you to please lift the unnecessary and ineffective mask mandate that is still burdening our people and our nation. Mask mandates are dictatorial and authoritarian.
For those that would like to wear a mask they are welcome to do so. However, forcing everyone else, particularly our school children, to wear masks all day long is wrong, unhealthy, controlling, and quite frankly silly.
Do you know we are one of the only countries (perhaps the only) in the world still forcing our citizens to wear masks?
Even the CDC admits that masks are ineffective and do nothing to stop transmission and there are now countless studies which compare school districts which support the same. And for those who are concerned, if they indeed find themselves more comfortable wearing a mask, then by all means that’s fine.
Have you seen some of the research papers coming out of the US and other countries showing the amount of bacteria, e-coli, and other disgusting virus particles that were found in the masks of school-aged children after the end of a seven-hour school day? You would be shocked to know what is being inhaled into your children’s lungs through these masks (which are not intended to be worn for long periods of time in any context!).
Not to mention the thousands of people flying into our country coming from airports, cities, and flights that have NO MASKS on; only to enter our country, stay in their hotels, lobbies, stores etc, all with the freedom of not being mandated to wear a mask there either (and rightfully so!) yet, you and I, we Bahamians, and our poor children, many of them who will be returning to school in a few weeks, are forced to wear these disgusting facial diapers on our mouths all day?!
This is total hypocrisy. We are being enslaved in our own country, and for what? Having just spent weeks in various other countries in the world ALL of them have dropped their ridiculous mandates and moved on. People are free to move, breathe God’s fresh air, and make personal decisions about mask wearing for themselves.
The Bahamas needs to get with the programme. If you want to wear a mask, wear one. If you don’t want to wear one you shouldn’t be forced to wear one, especially our school age children who we already know have virtually zero risk of any real threat from COVID. Please, we ask of our Government and Ministry of Health, let our people breathe again - our clean, fresh, God-given air to which we have the God-given right to inhale and exhale without restrictive masks. After all, why would anyone want to put back into their body the very same toxic air which God designed our bodies to dispose of. It makes no sense. None. Drop the mask mandates.
