A MAN suspected of housebreaking and stealing was arrested on Wednesday in the Freeport area, a senior police official said.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Stephen Rolle said officers from the Northeastern Division received a report of housebreaking and stealing shortly after 9.30am.
He said that two initial reports revealed that an adult male fitting a description previously given was observed in the area of Sergeant Major Road.
As a result police were dispatched to the area. On seeing officers, the suspect fled into an apartment complex on Sergeant Major Road.
ASP Rolle said officers were able to gain access to the apartment.
A search warrant was executed, which resulted in the recovery of an assortment of tools that were suspected to have been stolen.
Later, the suspect directed the officers to a bushy area on Man-o-War Circle, where more suspected stolen items were discovered.
Mr Rolle said the adult male, a resident of Sunshine Apartments, was arrested and taken into police custody where he is assisting police with their investigations.
