A 20-YEAR-OLD man, allegedly found with a 9mm pistol and six unfired rounds of ammunition, was granted $8,000 bail yesterday.
Dillan Simon stood before Magistrate Kendra Kelly yesterday charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
Police allege that they found Simon with the firearm on November 5.
However, Simon, who was represented by attorney Wendawn Miller- Fraser, denied the offences.
When the issue of bail was brought up, the Crown prosecutor objected due to the nature of the offences.
However, Mrs Miller- Fraser argued that her client was innocent until proven guilty and also was of good character.
She said there was no indication her client would not return to court and said if the magistrate had any misgivings, there were bail conditions she could impose.
Having listened to both arguments, Magistrate Kelly granted the accused $8,000 bail with two sureties.
He was also ordered to report to the Grove Police Station twice a week.
