THE BAHAMAS Auto Repair Association (BARA) recently held an electronic estimating training course they hope will revolutionise the way vehicle estimates are given in the Bahamas.
President of BARA, Duaine Scavella, said the Web-Est system auto repairers were trained in will launch the industry to a higher standard of customer care by taking out the "guess work" out of preparing estimates. And he insisted the Web-Est system is designed to protect the customer by preparing a comprehensive report of a vehicle's repair schedule.
"An electronic estimate gives you, the motoring public, a detailed report on repairs to your vehicle. It also gives you current parts pricing and labour," a BARA press release said.
According to Mr Scavella, the training seminar, which was held at Mario's Bowling and Entertainment Palace, was attended by all the major auto repairers in the industry.
The training was conducted by Matt Shanks from Web-Est Estimating Solutions, he said.
Mr Scavella said that Web-Est is the most detailed and accurate system for creating estimates on the market and said it would take the auto-repair industry to a "higher standard" of customer care.
"It takes the guess work out by creating a detailed account of what is going on," he said. "The transparency is there."
The system will allow vehicle owners to track their repairs without fear of being overcharged for parts or labour, said Mr Scavella.
He also added that BARA hopes to continue to revolutionise the industry through continued training.
According to Mr Scavella, several auto repairers will be sent to Dallas next year for training on vehicle electronic systems.
