Former PLP MP criticises Ingraham's election bribery claims

A FORMER PLP member of parliament yesterday criticised outgoing FNM leader Hubert Ingraham for claiming that bribes aided the PLP's election victory on May 7.

Keod Smith, now lead spokesman of Re-Negotiate, described as a group of "public affairs commentators", said Mr Ingraham's comments were "a major blight on the international airwaves" for the Bahamas.

Mr Smith said: "While one may expect irresponsible utterances as a result of the sudden shock and despair over having driven his party to the dismal political position it is now in, Mr Ingraham would also be aware that his comments were picked up by the international media which has caused our country to suffer a major blight."

Mr Smith pointed out that it was Mr Ingraham who invited the Organisation of American States (OAS) to monitor the electoral process, and said it is now time to bring proof of his allegations.
