Unions and Elizabeth Thompson

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Can someone please refresh our memory as to the settlement by the Registrar General’s Office and the same staffer who is causing a problem at the BTC? Was the staffer sent to the then government corporation to enable the Minister with responsibility for the Registrar General's office to be rid of her? Also were the unions engaged to make public representation on staffer's behalf at that time? As I recall it was the same government which is now in place.

Speaking of government, most of us are probably wondering if they could possibly have a hand in this public discussion because of their own strange desire to wrest control by whatever means. If so, that, in my opinion, is a very nasty trick. The Bahamas Christian Council is just waking up to the fact that they have been and are being used by the powers that be when necessary.

As regards Abaco, we have always known that it has the third most effective economy in The Bahamas after New Providence and Grand Bahama. This was achieved by industrious  Abaconians themselves with the assistance of FMN governments. The only people who did not know were those who recently moved to Abaco. Tourists love this island. I just hope it does not become like other run down areas of The Bahamas.
