Questions . . .

EDITOR, The Tribune.

The two delegates to the Caricom meeting last week brought up two subjects discussed at Caricom which some of us feel appear to be outside the mandate of that body.

1) Citizenship issues concerning the Dominican Republic. Surely this is a matter for the government of the Dominican Republic to resolve and not the business of Caricom. One Bahamian delegate went so far as to suggest racism in the award of citizenship. Instead the Minister should give answers to the Cuban/Bahamas controversy about allegations of mistreatment at the Detention Centre.

2) Another MP from Abaco defended his right to disassociate himself from his political party’s vote on the webshop bill.
Question to this MP is how does he feel about the treatment by the PLP of Mr Carlton Francis when he sought to abstain on voting the party’s line on religious conscience grounds on a similar gaming bill?
