Sandals donates supplies to DW Davis Junior High

SANDALS Royal Bahamian helped to lighten the financial load on parents and administrators of DW Davis Junior High for the third consecutive year, with its donation of food supplies and kitchen utensils for the practical portion of the school’s Bahamas Junior Certificate Home Economics exam.

Sandals’ Executive Sous Chef, Seanette Cooper, and Public Relations Manager, Chester Robards, delivered rice, flour, sugar, green and red bell peppers, cinnamon, nutmeg, blenders, knives and cleaning supplies to the students, much to their delight.

“We just want to help the students in their BJC practical exam,” said Mrs Cooper. “I love to assist with projects related to my field and I want the students to excel. Any assistance I can give to them I do.”

Last year, DW Davis faculty awarded Sandals with a plaque for its support and commitment in ensuring its students have the equipment and knowledge needed to advance their education.

“Once again it is with great appreciation that we graciously accept this valuable contribution from Sandals,” said Kiesha Bonimy, Family and Consumer Science teacher at DW Davis.

“These supplies and equipment lighten the load of the already financially limited parents, enabling more students to participate in this year’s BJC exams. This is the biggest group (51 students) since Sandals began with their contributions. We thank Sandals and we look forward to your continued support.”

Sandals will host an etiquette training session for almost 100 students this week, ahead of their graduation from the junior high school.

Mrs Cooper said it is important for her and her culinary team at Sandals Royal Bahamian to give back to the community as much as they can. “It’s my passion, especially for the kids who want to go into my field, to give them as much help as possible,” she said.
