Former BIS executive director dies

EDWARD Ellis, the former executive director of Bahamas Information Services (BIS), has died.

A career public servant, Mr Ellis served his country with distinction for 42 years before retiring in March.

He was instrumental in the development of the communications arm of the government at BIS and the archiving of important legislative proceedings of Parliament in his capacity as editor of The Hansard.

He died at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Tuesday. He leaves a wife, Helen, daughter Jovanna, son Julian and granddaughter Ashley.
