POLICE arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the shooting to death of Andrew Wood last month.

Mr Wood was shot and killed on May 23, after apparently walking in on an attempted armed robbery. He was shot in the chest while in a convenience store on Lightbourn Street off Farington Road.

Police said a lone gunman approached the store as the owner was opening, produced a firearm and attempted to make his way into the store. The gunman shot Wood while trying to get inside.

He was pronounced dead on the scene. Mr Wood was celebrating his 54th birthday the day he was shot.

Police arrested the suspect, a 30-year-old man of Resurrection Drive, off East Street, around noon on Monday. Investigations continue.

One of the suspects in the murder of Renaldo Bonaby last month has turned himself in at the Central Detective Unit. Glen White was accompanied by his attorney yesterday when he came in around 3pm. Renaldo Armbrister, the other suspect, is still at large.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS.
