Conference to explore key financial services topics

Local and international financial services experts will explore several key issues at next Wednesday’s Nassau Conference at the British Colonial Hilton.

In a panel discussion titled ‘Residence’, and moderated by Michelle Neville-Clarke, a partner at Lennox Paton, Joseph Field, a partner at Withersworldwide will join Reaz H. Jafri, the head of immigration (US & Asia) at Withers Bergman LLP, to explore the changing landscape of global residency, and the impact of client movements between jurisdictions, on international financial centres.

Then, Abel Francisco Mejia Cosenza, a partner at Sanchez Devanny (Mexico), and Humberto H. Sanches, a partner at Ulh�a Canto, Rezende e Guerra Advogados (Brazil), will participate in a panel discussion called ‘Looking Forward in Key Markets’.

Moderated by Felicia Mott-Smith, the head of private banking at Soci�t� G�n�rale Private Banking (Bahamas), the panel will look at growing opportunities for Bahamian financial services, such as the new ‘Bahamas ICON’, in markets like Mexico and Brazil.

This will be followed by a session titled ‘Human Capital & Mentorship’, where the focus will be on investing in professional development by the sector, and the need to highlight and mentor current and future leaders.

The panel will feature Paul Lewis, vice-president, IFS operations, at JP Morgan Trust Company (Bahamas); Tanya McCartney, immediate past president of Bahamas Institute of Financial Services; and Vanessa Knowles, country manager of Credit Suisse AG (Nassau Branch). Antoinette Russell, managing director of Credit Suisse Trust and the Association of International Banks and Trust (AIBT) companies chair, will moderate.
