Brewery replaces departing chief

Commonwealth Brewery yesterday said its managing director, Nico Pinotsis, will be stepping down from his post for personal reasons on September 15.

The BISX-listed brewer has named Hans Neven to replace him, with a brief to further strengthen the company’s market position.

A Belgian national born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mr Neven joined Heienken, Commonwealth Brewery’s 75 per cent majority shareholder, in 2000.

Before the Bahamas, his immediate previous post was as general manager at SARL Tango in Algeria (Heineken Algeria), where he had been since 2008. He is said to have led a turnaround in the newly-acquired business, creating a team which delivered year-over-year top-line and market share growth.

Commonwealth Brewery said Mr Pinotsis had spearheaded a modernisation programme within the companies’ commercial organisation, and helped integrate the company with both BISX and its shareholders.
