Pointe needs explanation

EDITOR, The Tribune.

It shocks and amazes me that with the economic severity in our economy, not only for the construction worker, but seriously for the Construction Company’s who post the Baha Mar debacle (remember collectively Bahamian Construction companies are owed over S100m) that few are saying or complaining.

A concrete frame parking garage is something Bahamian Contractors have built - the one to the side of Baha Mar was built by Treco Construction, engineering no different - remember that other parking garage on PI was also built by a Bahamian Company?

Who do we see building this? Hundreds of Chinese... Bahamians first?

A letter writer, Mr Howells, raised the issue of Bahamian construction workers on The Pointe site - did we definitively establish that there are today 200 Bahamian construction workers at The Pointe?

Minister Shane Gibson can lean out of his office and do a count... Minister, the white workers are Chinese!

Our major Construction Companies in peril of collapsing – ‘ooo’s of construction workers screaming for work and what do we do? Ensure the foreign folks get the work.

Mr Prime Minister, please explain?

In any other country there would be serious protests - crowds of protesters demanding they are employed.

Well at least we know one Bahamian got a job at The Pointe - surname very recognisable.
