A 21-year-old man who denied having a loaded pistol was yesterday granted bail before his trial.
Police said they found Wayne Demeritte with a .45 pistol with seven unfired rounds of ammunition on August 20.
He is also accused of assaulting a man in May.
He denied the allegations when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt and the case was adjourned to November 17 for a fixture hearing.
Demeritte, who is represented by attorney Devard Francis, was granted $8,000 bail for the firearm charges and another $1,000 for assault.
As part of the conditions of his release, he is required to sign in at his nearest police station weekly on or before 6pm.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man who denied defrauding another man of nearly $2,000 was also released on bail before his trial.
Police arrested Brandon McKenzie after he was accused of trying to defraud Burlington Strachan of $1,904 from a man on August 19.
Yesterday, he denied conspiring to commit fraud and attempting to commit fraud by false pretences during his arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
As a result, his case was adjourned to September for a fixture hearing.
He was granted $3,000 bail in the interim.
