SUN OIL Limited is again partnering with the Bahamas Aquatics Federation to sponsor Team Bahamas’ participation at the 2022 CARIFTA Aquatics Championships, scheduled for April 16-19 in Bridgetown, Barbados.
“The Bahamas is the defending CARIFTA Champions and have won CARIFTA Aquatics for the last 3 years. In fact, we have won 5 of the 6 previous championships,” said Bahamas Aquatics Federation President Algernon Cargill. “We are very confident that we will retain the CARIFTA title and the team is super excited! This event has not been held for the past 2 years and this meet is the first return to normalcy for these age group swimmers.”
Team Bahamas consists of 36 of the country’s top youth swimmers, aged 11-17 years.
“We have a lot of qualifiers, our time standards are very tough,” Cargill said. “It speaks to the strength of the programme and the commitment of the coaches and the parents in preparing the athletes for CARIFTA.“
Expressing gratitude, Cargill thanked their multiyear sponsor, Sun Oil Limited, for again sponsoring Bahamas Aquatics.
“Sun Oil Limited is committed to its corporate citizenship programme and our role in youth and national development,” said Fabian C. Fernander, Sales & Marketing Manager, Sun Oil Limited. “Through supporting initiatives like the Bahamas Aquatics programmes, we achieve this mission of investing in our communities and truly fuelling journeys that matter.
“We applaud the discipline and sportsmanship of Team Bahamas and wish them much luck at the 2022 CARIFTA Aquatics Championships as they defend our title.”
