A MAN was remanded into custody after he was accused of robbing someone at knifepoint on Carew Street and Mount Royal Avenue last week.

Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley arraigned Matthew Butterfield, 43, on armed robbery.

Prosecutors alleged that while armed with a knife, the defendant pushed Wesley Rolle off his bike and stole $100 from him on February 19.

The defendant was informed that he was not required to enter a plea then. He was told that his matter would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

He was informed of his right to apply for bail through the higher court.

He will be remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until his VBI is served on May 29.

Inspector Deon Barr served as the prosecutor.
