A MAN was remanded into custody yesterday after he was accused of robbing two men at gunpoint while they were playing poker on East Street South last week.

Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley arraigned Jamal Maycock, 24, on two counts of armed robbery.

Armed with a handgun, the defendant and accomplices allegedly robbed Darius Daxon of $500 and Roland Brown of $1,500 while the pair were engaged in a poker game at a tyre repair shop on January 15.

The suspects reportedly fled the scene in a black Japanese vehicle.

The defendant was not required to enter a plea and was informed that his matter would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

Maycock will be remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until his VBI is served on April 3.

Geoffrey Farquharson represented the accused.
