Man and woman accused of stealing $20k from bank account of former judge

A MAN and woman were granted bail after they were accused of stealing $20,000 from the bank account of a former judge earlier this month.

Senior Magistrate Kendra Kelly arraigned Jadyn Gomez, 23, and Devina Moss, 33, on stealing, receiving and money laundering.

Each defendant is accused of stealing $10,000 from the CIBC account of former Supreme Court Justice Rhonda Bain between January 13 and 14.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Their bail was set at $5,000 with one or two sureties.

Under the terms of his bail, Gomez must sign in at the Carmichael Road Police Station every Thursday by 6pm.

Moss must sign in at the Wulff Road Police Station on the first Monday of every month.

The defendants’ trial is set to begin on May 13 and 14, 2025.

Sergeant Vernon Pyfrom served as the prosecutor.

UPDATE: On March 25, 2025, Devina Moss was granted a discharge, and the prosecution withdrew all charges.
