A MAN fined for firearm-related offences yesterday told the court he couldn’t pay because he couldn’t afford it.
Magistrate Lennox Coleby arraigned 39-year-old Bill Frazer on charges of possession of ammunition and possession of a component part of a firearm.
Police reportedly found a black magazine base plate and spring, along with four rounds of 9mm ammunition, at Frazer’s residence on March 7.
He pleaded guilty to both charges.
Magistrate Coleby fined Frazer $5,000 or 15 months in prison. He must pay at least $2,000 before being released.
When Frazer said he had no one to help pay the fine, the magistrate advised him to call someone.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Lincoln McKenzie served as the prosecutor.
