SIXTY-four Haitian nationals were repatriated to Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, yesterday.
According to the Bahamas Immigration Department, the group comprised 55 adult men, seven adult women, and two minor girls. They were transported aboard a Bahamasair chartered flight which departed Lynden Pindling International Airport at 9.27am.
The operation was led by Chief Immigration Officer Abubakari Josey, with support from officers of the enforcement, removal, K-9, and deportation units.
In a statement, the department emphasised that all non-nationals without legal status in The Bahamas should regularise their stay or leave voluntarily to avoid apprehension and repatriation at their own expense.
Officials added that immigration exercises will continue across the islands as part of a national strategy to uphold Bahamian sovereignty and ensure the lawful management of migration.
The department also thanked the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Bahamasair, and all officers involved for their help in the operation.
