A 32-year-old man on bail for murder was fined $1,000 after pleading guilty to possession of Indian hemp with intent to supply.

Cleso Rolle, of Smith and Obediah Street, appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on November 6, where he admitted to the offence.

Rolle, who had previously been granted bail by the Supreme Court in connection with a murder charge, was convicted and ordered to pay the fine.

According to court records, Rolle was initially charged in February 2021 with the murder of 26-year-old Deandre Thompson, who was shot and killed near Sapodilla and Willow Tree Streets in Pinewood Gardens on January 3 that year. He was also accused of attempting to murder two other men during the same incident.

At his 2021 arraignment, Rolle was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until a voluntary bill of indictment was filed. He was later granted bail by the Supreme Court pending trial.
