A YOUNG boy remains in critical condition after a ferocious dog attack on Saturday.

Officers called to the scene in the Rosetta Street area shortly before 4pm found the boy, believed to be between seven and eight years old, suffering from severe injuries to his right hand.

Police said he appeared to be drifting in and out of consciousness when officers reached him. Emergency Medical Services took him to hospital, where he remains in critical condition and underwent surgery.

Police said yesterday that the boy’s condition is severe but not life-threatening. They said Animal Control removed the dog from the premises and is expected to remove two more dogs today.
