A MAN accused of having a loaded gun and drugs in his home on Quakoo Street last weekend was denied bail.
Prosecutors allege that Austin Pinder, 49, along with another suspect, was present when police executed a search warrant at his residence at 11am on January 11.
While a suspect attempted to flee the scene on foot and discard a loaded weapon during his flight, both the suspect and the items were recovered by authorities.
Pinder was allegedly found with a black Taurus G3C 9mm pistol and ten rounds of ammunition.
During a search of the residence, with the assistance of K-9 officers, police recovered 2¾oz of marijuana.
Although Pinder pleaded guilty to possession of dangerous drugs before Magistrate Lennox Coleby, he pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
Pinder was fined $1,000 for the drug offence or faces a six-month prison term.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Lincoln McKenzie, the prosecutor, objected to Pinder’s bail, citing his prior offences.
Pinder was fined for a previous drug offence in 2020.
He was remanded to prison and is expected to return to court on January 20.
Wilver Deleveaux represented the accused.
