Police reported an alleged suicide attempt involving a man who was in custody yesterday.

According to preliminary reports, officers discovered the suspect shortly after 11.30am with a shirt tied around his neck in what appeared to be an attempt to harm himself.

Police intervened, removed the clothing and summoned Emergency Medical Services to the scene. The suspect was examined by medical personnel and later transported to hospital for further treatment.

His condition was last reported as stable.

Police did not confirm where the suspect was being held when the incident took place. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
