A blaze at a scrap metal business near the landfill sent columns of smoke billowing across New Providence. The fire, at Larry’s Scrap Metal Yard, is at a site containing metal including car parts, industrial waste, batteries and more on March 8, 2025.

Junkyard fire brought under control overnight
FIREFIGHTERS battled through the night on Saturday to contain a massive blaze near the city dump, which sent thick smoke billowing across New Providence and was visible from every part of the island for hours.
