NPBA ACTION
AFTER taking a break for the Christmas holiday, the New Providence Basketball Association is scheduled to resume play on January 4 at the AF Adderley Gymnasium. In the opener at 7:30pm, the Rhythm Rebels take on Everybody Wins Legends. The Commonwealth Bank Giants will play the Pyramid Food Rockets in the feature contest at 9pm.

THE New Providence Women’s Basketball Association, which is currently on a break for the Christmas holiday, will not resume play until January 12 at the DW Davis Gymnasium. With only five teams in the league, the association only plays one game each night, starting at 7:30pm and a double header on Saturday nights.

ODD DISTANCE
MEET
THE newly elected board of the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA), which had to postpone its Year-End Awards Banquet due to the late planning when they came into office, has announced that their first official event for 2016 will be the Odd Distance Track Classic, scheduled for Saturday, January 9.
The event is scheduled to begin at noon at the original Thomas A Robinson Track and Field Stadium.
The general admission is $5 and $3 for students with identification. Entry into the VIP stand is $10. Fans will get to see athletes compete in events not normally in a regular track meet like the 75, 150, 300 and 600 metres as well as the field events will be contested from a standing throw position.
BSC ELECTIONS
THE Baptist Sports Council, in preparation for the 2016 season, has announced that the election of officers for the next three years will take place 10am January 30 at the Charles W Saunders High School, Jean Street. All positions will be contested as the BSC seeks to put in place a new board for the next three years. Nominations for all positions will be taken from the floor. Each church will be allowed two persons to vote.

FUN RUN/WALK
THE Baptist Sports Council has announced that its 2016 calendar year will begin on January 30 with its annual Family Fun Run/Walk Race.
The event, as usual, starts at 6am from the Charles W Saunders High School, Jean Street. Runners will travel south to Prince Charles Drive and around Fox Hill Hill onto Bernard Road and back to Jean Street, while the walkers will travel north onto Bernard Road around Soldier Road and back to Jean Street.
The entry fee is $10 and the categories include male and female 10-and-under 15-and-under, 20-and-under, 30-and-under, 40-and-under, 50-and-under and over-50.
