ALEXANDER Rolle came off the bench and scored 15 points to help power the Leno Regulators to a 72-66 victory over the PJ Stingers as the New Providence Basketball Association continued its regular season action on Saturday night. It was one of three games played at the AF Adderley Gymnasium.
In the two other games, it was a double dose of victory for Caro Contractors as their division II Resistance won 101-70 over the Y-Care Elites and the Pirates blasted the Vitamalt Chargers 90-60.
In one game played on Friday night, Caro Contractors nipped the JD’s Seafood Shockers 70-69.
Regulators 72,
Stingers 66
Rolle, in 24 minutes and 13 seconds, was 4-for-11 from the field, 3-for-7 from the three-point line and 4-for-5 from the free throw line for Leno. He also had four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Cruz Simon had 13 points and nine rebounds, Renardo Baillou had 11 points and eight rebounds, Kenneth Pratt had eight points, four rebounds and three steals and Hakeem Walkes also had eight points with three rebounds and two steals.
In a losing effort, Randy Williams had 18 points, eight rebounds and three block shots in 34:21 minutes as he went 5-for-22 from the field to lead PJ.
Mario Pickstock had 12 points and three rebounds, Henry Rolle came off the bench with 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals, Horris McKenzie had 10 points and eight rebounds and Devon Ferguson also had 10 points with six rebounds.
Pirates 90,
Chargers 60
Dominique Fernander, in 27:34 minutes, had 23 points on 11-for-16 from the field and 1-for-2 from the foul line with eight rebounds and three assists to pace Caro Contractors.
Craig Smith Jr had 18 points, four rebounds and two steals, Romell Johnson came off the bench with 13 points and Tevin Hudson had 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
Alexander Bullard pumped in a game high 26 points as he played the entire game for Vitamalt. He shot 10-for-29 from the field, 2-for-7 from the three-point line and 4-for-5 from the charity stripe to go along with six rebounds, two assists and as many steals.
Randy Miller had 27 points and 14 rebounds and Lerond Colebrooke added eight points.
Pirates 70,
Shockers 69
Dominique Fernander got a tip in with 34 seconds left on the clock to lift Caro Contractors to a close encounter. Fernander, in 32:49 minutes, finished with just nine points and 10 rebounds.
Tevin Hudson, in 32:59 seconds, led the attack with a game high 27 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists and Darren Darville had 12 points and four rebounds.
For JD’s Seafood, William Rigby connected on 6-for-17 from the field and 7-for-13 from the foul line for 19 points in 37:46 minutes. He also had six rebounds.
Shakwon Lewis came off the bench and also contributed 19 points with three steals and two assists, Jamaris King had eight points and four rebounds, Vernal Johnson had six points and three rebounds off the bench and Henderson Curry also had six points.
The league is slated to resume action on Tuesday, but the games will switch to the DW Davis Gymnasium.
In the men’s division II opener at 7pm, Caro Contractors Resistance face the Breezes High Flyers and the PJ Stingers are scheduled to battle the Commonwealth Bank Giants in the men’s division one feature contest.
