Tahnaj Thomas picked up his third win of the season and several players had multi-hit games to highlight play from Bahamians in Minor League Baseball over the weekend.

Thomas, the No.13 ranked prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ organisation, improved to 3-2 on the season in his Greensboro Grasshoppers’ 19-11 win over the Ashville Tourists.

Thomas got the start, went five innings and finished with four strikeouts, and allowed four runs. In 15 appearances this season, all starts, Thomas has pitched 56.2 innings, with 59 strikeouts, an ERA of 4.45 and a 1.54 WHIP.

The Grasshoppers have improved to 64-38 on the season, five games behind Bowling Green (69-33) in the High-A East South Division. Just 18 games remain in the regular season. Greensboro is also just a half-game ahead of North Division leader Hudson Valley (63-38) in the race for the No. 2 record in the league. The teams with the top two records, regardless of division, qualify for the 12-team league’s championship series in September.

In 2019 with the Bristol Pirates of the Appalachian League, he finished with a 2-3 win-loss record which also included 59 strikeouts - the most for any Bristol pitcher since 2012. In 12 starts, he pitched 48.1 innings with a 3.17 ERA and 1.12 WHIP.

Ian Lewis, the Miami Marlins’ No.29 ranked prospect in its pipeline, continues to produce for the club in the Florida Complex League (FCL).

Lewis had a perfect day at the plate in the Marlins’ 6-4 win over the FCL Cardinals on August 24.

Hitting third in the lineup as a designated hitter, Lewis went 4-4 with two runs and two RBI. He singled on a ground ball to right field to tie the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning. Lewis returned in the fifth to single on a fly ball to right field to take on another RBI and bring his team within a single run.

Lewis also scored the Marlins final two runs of the game in the win. He concluded the fifth inning with a score on a wild pitch to to take a 5-4 and scored the game’s final run on an RBI from Brandon Hernandez.

Through 35 games, he is hitting .281, an .828 OPS, with 34 hits - including eight doubles and four triples, three home runs, 24 RBI, 22 runs and five stolen bases.

In the Dominican Summer League, Adari Grant went 4-9 over the weekend for the DSL Cardinals Blue in the St Louis Cardinals organisation.

In an 11-4 loss to the DSL Yankees on August 27, Grant played shortstop and hit leadoff. He finished 3-4 and scored one run with one RBI.

In an intersquad matchup, Grant played second, hit leadoff once again and went 1-5 with two runs to lead DSL Cardinals Blue to an 11-8 win over DSL Cardinals Red on August 28.
