TWO men were remanded to prison yesterday after being accused of shooting someone during a robbery earlier this month.

Deon Scavella, 29, and Leander Bell, 30, were arraigned on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Prosecutors allege the men shot and injured Dianzhi Li with a 9mm pistol during a robbery on April 5 in New Providence. They reportedly stole $8,000 in cash and an iPhone valued at $800 from the victim.

The accused were not required to enter pleas and were informed that the case would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI). They were also told of their right to apply for bail in the higher court.

Scavella and Bell were remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until July 31, when their VBIs are expected to be served.
