A MAN accused of attempting to kidnap a ten-year-old boy on East Street last month was remanded to prison yesterday.
Prosecutors allege that Lionel Johnson, 33, took the boy from his mother near a Chinese restaurant on July 28.
A video of the alleged incident was widely circulated on social media. Johnson was reportedly driving a red subcompact vehicle.
The child was later returned to his parents.
Johnson was not required to enter a plea to child stealing when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans.
He was informed that the case would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment and that he could apply to the higher court for bail.
Johnson is expected to return to court for service of the voluntary bill of indictment on November 5.
Sergeant Vernon Pyfrom prosecuted the case.
