A 13-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman were taken to hospital in separate suspected suicide attempts in Grand Bahama and New Providence on Friday.
The 13-year-old was found drifting in and out of consciousness in a bathroom at a residence on Honduras Drive, Grand Bahama, shortly after 6pm, according to police.
Emergency Medical Services personnel were attending to the girl when officers arrived.
Police said prescription medication was found with her.
She was taken to hospital for further medical treatment and evaluation. Her condition was unknown.
Police said they were liaising with the girl’s stepmother and other relatives as they sought to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Earlier on Friday, a 19-year-old woman was taken to hospital after an alleged suicide attempt in the Carmichael Road area near Golden Isles Road.
Police said they received a report shortly before 10.30am from a man who said he had ended a relationship with his girlfriend following an argument.
The woman allegedly took prescription medication following the dispute and became unconscious.
Officers from the Carmichael Road Police Station responded and met Emergency Medical Services personnel at the scene.
The woman regained consciousness after being assessed by medical personnel and was taken to hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
