If the summer heat was not enough to ignite pageant season, the contestants of Miss Universe Bahamas certainly turned up the temperature without hesitation or apology.

The ladies recently competed in the costume segment of the pageant, each sporting a beautiful oversized headdress depicting their island, to the delight of hundreds of fans who lined the motorcade route to cheer on their favourite.

Leading the spectacular procession was Miss Universe Bahamas 2025, Malique Bowe, who captivated onlookers in a vibrant orange pleated cocktail dress.

National Director Anthony Smith explained that the decision to focus primarily on the headwear rather than the usual full costume was inspired by the elegance of the traditional British High Tea and Ladies Who Lunch culture.

“This has become one of the most anticipated attractions of the Miss Universe Bahamas competition,” he told Tribune Woman.

“Every designer embraces the challenge with bold vision, remarkable creativity and exceptional innovation, transforming each hat into a true work of art that celebrates the unique identity of the Bahamas,” he said.

Anthony said that this years designs were a “remarkable fusion of imagination, craftsmanship and Bahamian creativity.”

“Together, the contestants and their designers exceeded every expectation, delivering one of the most visually stunning and unforgettable costume showcases in the history of the Miss Universe Bahamas Organisation.

He explained that since the concept was introduced in 2022, it has grown into a signature attraction for visitors from around the world.

“Tourists eagerly stop to photograph and film the extraordinary creations, sharing them across social media and introducing audiences worldwide to the incredible artistic talent found throughout the islands,” he said.

"This is our way of celebrating the magnificent talent we have in our country," he added. "These extraordinary designs showcase the creativity of our people while giving each contestant the opportunity to proudly represent her island in a way that is both elegant and unforgettable."

The contestants traveled from Arawak Cay before making their final stop at the British Colonial Hotel to take part in the official judging.

With excitement continuing to build, the Miss Universe Bahamas Organisation now turns its attention to the upcoming preliminary competition and grand finale, where one outstanding woman will earn the opportunity to represent the Commonwealth of The Bahamas on the Miss Universe stage and if the costume competition is any indication, this promises to be one of the most exciting and memorable Miss Universe Bahamas competitions ever.
