Genesis Junkanoo Organisation launches a new community partnership in Freetown, partnering with community supporter Andrew "Blue" Johnson, who provided a $10,000 donation and heavy equipment to back the group's local outreach.

Genesis members posted flyers for August activities in the Freetown area, prompting Johnson prompting him to provide a $10,000 contribution to support the group's community service projects and broader development. After meeting with the Genesis executive team and learning about their "Bigger Than Bay" community focus, Johnson committed to expanding his support.

Johnson physically participated in the organisation's recent initiatives. During an August 1 clothing drive, he donated containers of items and helped sort and distribute the goods. A week later on August 8, he joined a cleanup campaign at the group's practice site at the former Performing Arts Centre and Old Shirley Street Theatre. He initially donated a 20 yard dumpster for the cleanup. Recognizing the need for more equipment, Johnson arranged for a backhoe, two additional 30 yard dumpsters, and two extra workers to arrive within 30 minutes.

There are expected to be multiple Genesis events planned for August. The group scheduled an August 15 souse out fundraiser to fund their Bay Street preparations and a back to school outreach program for Freetown children. Due to high community interest, the back to school event will include an extension of the clothing drive.

After attending a Turn Up Tuesday practice and paying his membership dues, Johnson also agreed to sponsor the Genesis Backline. This sponsorship supports the young men participating in the organization's community development programs. The Genesis Junkanoo Organisation officially welcomed Johnson as a frontline member of the Warhawk Nation as they continue developing the local community through Junkanoo.
