BENCHMARK (Bahamas) Limited has announced the appointment of two directors to its Board following the Company’s 2026 Annual General Meeting.
The AGM was held during the inaugural Fintech Digital Conference, hosted by Benchmark subsidiary Benchmark Advisors (Bahamas) Ltd. In collaboration with international technology firm Ovryde Ltd., during which the two announced its joint venture BahamasOvryde Ltd., a Bahamas-based, DARE-regulated digital asset infrastructure company.
Against that backdrop of growth and innovation, Benchmark announced the appointment of Brent Roberts, who returns as a Director, and Latonia Symonette-Tinker, who joins the Board for the first time.
Mr Roberts has had a longstanding relationship with Benchmark, having served continuously as Secretary to the Board for many years. An Audit Partner at BFO Bahamas and a Certified Public Accountant, he brings more than 30 years of audit and assurance experience across banking, investment funds, broker-dealers, insurance, pensions, government and the private sector.
Ms Symonette- Tinker brings more than 20 years of experience in financial services, regulatory affairs, compliance risk management and corporate governance. She is president and Managing Director of The Bayshore Group LLC and has held senior positions with Santander Bank & Trust (Bahamas) Ltd. And Swiss Financial Services (Bahamas) Ltd. She ahs also advised the Government of The Bahamas on international regulatory matters and is a former Chairman of the Bahamas Financial Services Board.
Also re-elected to the Board were Julian R. Brown, Chairman of Benchmark (Bahamas) Limited and president of Alliance Investment Management Ltd., Idris G. Reid, a former Permanent Secretary with more than 50 years of public service; G. Clifford Culmer, a veteran Chartered Accountant, former Director of the Central Bank of The Bahamas and member of Benchmark’s Investment Advisory Board; Renee Saunders-Forsythe, a financial services and human resources executive with more than 25 years of industry experience; and Ruth Bowe-Darville, a respected attorney, former Justice of the Supreme Court of The Bahamas, and former President of the Bahamas Bar Association.
The Board appointments come as the Benchmark Group continues to build on its longstanding investment and financial services businesses while expanding into emerging areas of financial technology. The launch of BahamasOvryde represents a significant step in that direction, combining international technology with Bahamian financial services, governance and regulatory expertise.
