A MAN accused of breaching his bail conditions on armed robbery charges for 166 days was remanded to prison yesterday.
Prosecutors allege Christopher Cartwright, 26, failed to sign in at his local police station for 166 days between March 1 and August 15.
Cartwright was on bail on pending charges of armed robbery and attempted armed robbery.
Although he initially pleaded guilty to violating his bail conditions before Magistrate Abigail Farrington, a not guilty plea was entered after he did not accept the facts of the case.
Reserve Inspector Deveaux, the prosecutor, objected to Cartwright’s bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence and the risk that he could reoffend if released.
Cartwright argued that he would comply with any new bail conditions imposed on him.
He was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
Cartwright returns for trial on December 8.
