A MAN was accused of seriously injuring an elderly cyclist after allegedly knocking him down with his vehicle on East and Young Streets last week.
Prosecutors allege Ricardo “Ricky” Farrington, 60, seriously injured Parnell Green after striking him with his vehicle while Mr Green was on his way to work as a security guard on August 10.
Mr Green reportedly lost consciousness after being knocked from his bicycle and suffered lacerations to his forehead and arm.
When he regained consciousness, an ambulance called by a bystander had arrived. Farrington had allegedly fled the scene before then.
Farrington was not required to enter a plea to causing dangerous harm before Senior Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr.
He was informed that the matter would proceed to the Supreme Court by way of voluntary bill of indictment.
Farrington’s bail was set at $9,000 with one or two sureties. He is to be fitted with a monitoring device and must sign in at the Southern Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday by 6pm.
Farrington returns for service of the VBI on December 15.
Inspector Timothy Bain prosecuted the case.
