A REPEAT offender accused of trespassing on a Wulff Road property told a magistrate yesterday that he was only there to feed his cousins’ dogs, had recently been knocked down and was homeless because police failed to return him to Grand Bahama after his release from prison.

Prosecutors allege Glen Faustin, 55, trespassed on Roy McKenzie’s property on Wulff Road on August 18.

Faustin pleaded not guilty to trespassing before Magistrate Abigail Farrington.

The defendant claimed he was on the property only to feed his cousins’ dogs.

Reserve Inspector Deveaux objected to bail, citing Faustin’s lengthy criminal record.

Faustin asked the court for compassion, claiming he was now homeless because police had not paid for his transfer back to Grand Bahama following his release from prison on July 1.

He also claimed he had been knocked down.

The magistrate questioned why his address was listed as Ferguson Way.

Faustin was granted $2,000 bail with one or two sureties. He must also sign in at the Wulff Road Police Station every Friday by 7pm.

When Faustin complained that the bail was too steep, the court explained that he only needed someone to sign his bail.

His trial begins on September 9.
