TWO teenagers accused of a near-fatal triple shooting in Green Castle, Eleuthera, last weekend were remanded yesterday.

Prosecutors allege that a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, whose names are being withheld because they are minors, attempted to shoot and kill Jessie Russell, Audley Kemp and Khaylen Kemp with a 9mm pistol in Green Castle on August 16.

During the same incident, the teens allegedly damaged a Nissan Note.

The juveniles appeared with their guardians during their arraignment.

They were not required to enter pleas to three counts each of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life before Assistant Chief Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux.

Both teens elected to have the damage charge heard before the Supreme Court. They pleaded not guilty to that charge.

Ian Cargill, attorney for the 17-year-old, said his client had been attacked by relatives of one of the complainants while on remand at the Simpson Penn Centre for Boys. The magistrate indicated that the accused could be placed in solitary confinement.

The teens were informed that their case would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI) and that they had the right to apply to the higher court for bail.

They were remanded to the Simpson Penn Centre for Boys until service of their VBIs on December 7.

Corporal Moultrie prosecuted the case. Levan Johnson and Gary Russell also represented the accused.
