POLICE seized an estimated $1.68m worth of suspected cocaine, along with a firearm and ammunition, during a joint operation in Exuma on Saturday.
Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit and Marine Support Services Branch, assisted by United States counterparts under Operation Bahamas, Turks & Caicos (OPBAT), carried out the operation at Farmer’s Cay Dock shortly after 5.30pm.
Police said officers, acting on information received, travelled to the dock aboard a police vessel and searched a white Intrepid boat equipped with two outboard engines.
They allegedly found 84 packages containing suspected cocaine, a firearm, ammunition and an official passport belonging to a 43-year-old Bahamian man.
The suspected cocaine weighed an estimated 222 pounds, or approximately 84 kilograms, and had an estimated street value of $1.68m.
No arrests were made.
The drugs, firearm, ammunition and vessel were transported to New Providence as police continue their investigation.
