A 31-year-old man died early Sunday morning after his vehicle apparently struck a rock wall and utility pole in Deadman’s Cay, Long Island.

Police said they were alerted to the collision at around 12.30am in the area of Cartwright Drive.

Officers found an extensively damaged blue Honda in the northbound lane of Joseph B Carroll Highway, with Davardo Adderley unresponsive inside.

Medical personnel examined Mr Adderley at the scene and confirmed that he showed no vital signs of life.

The Tribune contacted Mr Adderley’s relatives and friends following his death. His family requested time to grieve before commenting.

Adderley’s best friend, Jocquille Deal, along with the Deal and Thompson families, described him as “the sweetest and most humble young man with the smartest mouth”.

“Words can’t describe the pain of losing a friend who became family not by blood, but by love,” the family said in a statement. “A young man of few words at first, but as our interactions went on, the conversations became endless.

“If love could have saved you, Vardo, you would have lived forever. Gone from this earth, but never our hearts. We will never forget you. “You will forever be loved by the Deal & Thompson family.”

Police said the investigation is continuing.
