Bahamasair seeking more airline deals for Caribbean connectivity

Bahamasair is seeking out more inter-line partnerships with other islands to help further expand its reach in the Caribbean and establish this nation as an important regional travel hub.

Tracy Cooper, the national flag carrier’s managing director, told a recent Miami-based travel summit that such partnerships will allow travellers to move more easily through the Caribbean without relying on traditional US gateways.

Inter-line agreements are commercial deals between airlines that allow passengers with one carrier to seamlessly switch to another’s flight without having to gather their bags or check-in again. Airlines can also promise free rebooking if the connection is lost due to a delay, and each party accepts the other’s tickets.

Mr Cooper also told the week-long 30th annual NABHOOD Summit, the 13th annual International Multicultural & Heritage Tourism & Travel Summit, and the Fifth Annual Bahamas Diaspora Summit, held at the Hyatt Regency Miami from July 22–26, 2026, that safety remains the core of Bahamasair's operations as it seeks to expand its regional and international reach.

Mr Cooper stressed that every decision begins with safety. Wilfred Mullings, Bahamasair’s deputy director of sales and marketing, said promoting the airline is about more than selling tickets - it is about showcasing The Bahamas, and ensuring the national airline remains a key partner in the country's tourism success.

Bahamasair sponsored sessions at the Bahamas Diaspora Conference and the 13th annual International Multicultural & Heritage Tourism & Travel Summit & Trade Show. Mr Cooper and Mr Mullings were accompanied by the airline’s chairman, Dr Tyniel Cargill, and other members of the Bahamasair team.

Attendees also had the opportunity to connect with the airline by scanning a QR code for a chance to win one of two trips for two to the Family Islands.
