AN American man was fined $3,450 on Friday for fraudulently spending movie prop money while visiting Nassau Cruise Port last week.
Zoquan Lorenzo Lee, 20, of Chicago, used three $100 US bills bearing the mark “Motion Picture Purposes” and defrauded Material Girl’s Boutique on Market Street of a silver Cartier wristwatch on May 27.
The defendant was allegedly found with $9,700 in fake US currency bearing the same mark.
Later that day, Lee allegedly resisted arrest by Sergeant 2740 Wilson at the cruise port around 3.25pm.
During the same incident, the defendant assaulted Police Constable 4763 Major and Police Constable 619 Williams and damaged a pair of RBPF trousers.
Lee pleaded guilty to possession of forged currency notes, uttering forged currency notes, conspiracy to commit fraud by false pretences, fraud by false pretences, assaulting a police officer and causing damage before Assistant Chief Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux.
Lee pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of possession of forged currency and resisting arrest.
The charges against Lee’s 15-year-old male co-accused, whose name is being withheld because he is a minor, were withdrawn.
Lee was fined a total of $3,450 or risks three months in prison.
Sergeant Vernon Pyfrom prosecuted the case.
