A 17-year-old boy accused of assaulting a woman with a handgun last month in New Providence was granted bail yesterday.
Prosecutors allege the teenage defendant, whose name is being withheld because he is a minor, assaulted Kevonya Smith with a firearm on May 21.
The accused denied a charge of assault with a deadly weapon before Magistrate Abigail Farrington.
The defendant was arraigned in the presence of his grandmother.
His bail was set at $500. Under the terms of his bail, he must sign in at the Wulff Road Police Station every Friday by 6pm and obey a daily 9pm to 5am curfew. He was warned not to contact the complainant or any witnesses in the matter.
The defendant returns for trial on July 13.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Kendrick Bauld prosecuted the case, while Mark Penn represented the accused.
