A 12-year-old American boy was injured in a shark attack while swimming with his brother in Staniel Cay, Exuma, on Tuesday.
Police said they were notified of the attack shortly before 3.30pm after the boy’s mother called authorities while on a tour in the Exuma Cays.
The boy received medical treatment for his injuries and had to be transferred to New Providence by boat.
He was listed in stable condition up to press time.
The attack came three months after an Australian woman was reportedly attacked by a suspected bull shark near Fresh Creek, Andros, in March. She suffered severe injuries to her right arm and had to be airlifted to New Providence for treatment.
