AN adult man with visible injuries to his upper body was found dead in a service road off Melvern Road, Yellow Elder, on Friday morning, prompting police to launch a suspicious death investigation.

Police said they were alerted to the body shortly after 8am and responded to the scene.

Officers found the man dressed in blue shorts. A pair of tennis shoes was found nearby.

Emergency Medical Services personnel examined the victim and confirmed he had no vital signs.

Police said the initial investigation suggests the man had been involved in an altercation the previous night with a male who was accompanied by a female in the Melvern Road area.

After the incident, the victim reportedly went to a nearby service road, where his body was discovered the next morning.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Sheria King, the police press liaison officer, said at the scene that foul play is suspected. She said a pathology report will determine the cause of death.
