A MAN and woman were granted bail after they allegedly threatened a man with a gun to make him move his car on Prince Charles Drive last week.
Prosecutors allege that Shaquel McKenzie, 32, and Donaca Nairn, 30, while armed with a gun, threatened Ron Fernander Sr and told him to move his gold Kia Soul after he parked behind them outside a business at 7pm on March 15.
The accused reportedly fled the scene in a white Nissan Cube but were stopped by police on Beech Tree Avenue. Police allegedly recovered a black Springfield Armoury Hellcat Pro 9mm pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition inside the vehicle.
The accused pleaded not guilty to possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition and possession of a firearm with intent to put another in fear before Senior Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr. They elected to have the matter continue before the magistrate.
Sergeant 3004 Forbes, the prosecutor, raised no objections to bail.
Nairn’s bail was set at $4,000, while McKenzie’s was set at $8,000. Each must provide one or two sureties.
McKenzie must also be fitted with a monitoring device.
Both accused were warned not to interfere with the complainant or risk having their bail revoked.
The defendants must sign in at the East Street South Police Station every Monday and Wednesday by 6pm. McKenzie must also sign in on Fridays.
The trial begins on September 11.
Ian Jupp represented the accused.
